31st May, on the mark of strong World No Tobacco Day, some important things to know to advocate global effort by the collective participation of every citizen everywhere.

Almost 1.1 billion (1/7th of the global population) smokers around the world are completely vulnerable to the most dangerous habits.

See it every day, how slow poison consumes us, permeates the air around us and bring a serious impact on the environment we live in. In every minute 11 million cigarettes are smoked globally which eventually costs $4000 in a year /avg smoker. Imagine what you could have done with that amount of money. Besides, we can stop the largest preventable cause of cancer by measurable prevention and general awareness.
Once tobacco was considered to be an innocuous treat for a civilized man and one of the most important goods traded across the world. But after a hundred years, undeniable millions of premature deaths have counted 6million people in a single year. Smoking tobacco causes exposure to harmful substances like toxic chemicals including at least 70 carcinogens that inevitably damaging nearly every organ of your body.

Health Hazards:
Respiratory Systems: Smoking increases the risk of chronic nonreversible lung conditions along with higher rates of pneumonia and bronchitis. Your habit of smoking can be a reason for the asthma problems for your children and other family members.
Cardiovascular Systems: Nicotine presents inside the smoke damages your cardiovascular functionality with an increased risk of heart attacks by raising blood pressure.
Central Nervous Systems: Our brain is the most crucial part of the body. Nicotine is such a habit-forming drug that people feel difficult to quit smoking. Eventually, it causes anxiety, depression, and impairment of cognitive brain functionalities.
Digestive Systems: With Regular smoking, the risk of having mouth cancer and pancreatic cancer is more probable. In addition. You are endangering body further probe to type 2 Diabetes.
COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and breast cancer have become a leading cause of death in the world which is the unavoidable consequence of regular tobacco use. But quitting smoking can reverse many unwanted harmful effects and save millions of lives every day.

Environmental Sabotage:
From the recent report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests, we witness an alarming picture of environmental degradation due to tobacco cultivation in India. Also globally, tobacco plantation and manufacture of cigarettes is a major cause of deforestation, especially in the Amazonian rainforest.

Despite the announcement of the World Bank in 1991 for their revocation of no longer investments and loans for tobacco production, processing, and marketing could not stop the process. 'Cash Crops' like tobacco is continuously luring the poor farmers to set foot in the trap. The demand for a high level of soil fertility and required fuelwood for tobacco production gradually increasing soil erosion, loss of enormous bio-diversity and expanded ripple effects on the environment.
A huge amount of highly toxic waste is being dumped, potentially causing an immense casualty of air, water, and land.

Nearly 2.6 billion Kg CO2 and 5.2 billion Kg of Methane is being emitted into the atmosphere by smoking all over the world.

Scattered cigarette butts are threatening the aquatic life including animals and humans for direct contamination of waterways.
If we don't understand the interest of global health, our valuable environment, and our personal life, we can not save our livelihood and beautiful planet anyway. It demands your necessary, most attentive steps to prevent smoking and spread awareness among fellow citizens on world No Tobacco Day.
